We will name it ROTA (Return of the Arduino)
Here is an example of an obstacle avoidance. We can start with this, and then add components and code to improve our design. Also, we can install a fake mustache and a hat to cover the wires.
- This robot will use an ultrasonic sensor to avoid hitting obstacles.
- The ultrasonic will sweep on a servo, and "look" for obstacles using a ping-recieve technique to tell distance from an object
- It will be equipped with 3 line sensors, that will allow the robot to follow a line, or a maze.
- The line sensors are triggered by emitting and receiving light
- Wheels are powered by 6v gear driven motors
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ROBOT DESIGN
- Motors will be powered by 6V battery pack (4 AA Batteries), and Arduino Motorsheild V2
- Arduino will be powered by 9V battery
- The front post will support itself using headset bearings from a bicycle. Robot rolls on the bearings
- 2 wheel drive (rear wheel)
- Sparkfun Line follow sensors will mount on the 1" threaded standoff's, with spacer they will be 1/8" off the surface for optimal readings
- 8.5" by 6" Chassis, .25" thick laser cut acrylic
- Additional components will be 3D printed
Additional Compenents:
- (2) Motor brackets
- L-bracket for to mount Ultrasonic sensor to Servo
- Front post to mount roller bearings
